This rare poster was produced for the New York incarnation of the exhibition 'Sensation' at Brooklyn Museum of Art in 1999, and features the 1995 work 'Argininosuccinic Acid' by Damien Hirst.

'Sensation' was one of the most infamous and controversial exhibitions of recent years, curated from the contemporary art collection owned by Charles Saatchi. Showcasing 110 works by a diverse generation of young artists, the show featured Young British Artists (YBAs) Damien Hirst, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Mat Collishaw, Tracey Emin, Sarah Lucas, Chris Ofili, Marc Quinn, Jenny Saville, Yinka Shonibare, Gavin Turk and Rachel Whiteread.

Originally held at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1997, 'Sensation' later toured to the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin and the Brooklyn Museum in New York City. The show was met with both praise and protest, as many were shocked by pieces like Chris Ofili's black Madonna 'The Holy Virgin Mary' decorated with elephant dung and Marcus Harvey's portrait of convicted murderer Myra Hindley depicted in children's fingerprints. Regardless, Sensation is accredited as one of the key exhibitions that paved the way to more contemporary art at major art museums.
